Television actress Yukti Kapoor, who rose to fame with the serial Agnifera, was in town to shoot for her next serial. Playing a cop in this serial, Yukti, says, “I had a wonderful experience in Agnifera. Through that show a lot of people in the television industry noticed me and I got more opportunities. It was great for me because I didn’t have to really wait to get another show after it, straight after Agnifera  I was offered Namah wherein I played goddess Laxmi.” The actress said she consciously took up this role of a female cop in the serial Madam Sir. “I was tired of wearing those saris and sindoor and I had bawled my eyes out with glycerine. Now, I want to scare people, I want to yell my heart out,” she laughed. “On a serious note, I hope to inspire women and girls who are scared to speak their minds and be fearless. As far as female cops in India goes, I am quite afraid of them and I personally find them quite intimidating.

Even though we have had iconic female cop characters on screen, Yukti further revealed that she was asked to watch male cops on the screen instead of female cops. “I was asked to watch Amitabh Bachchan Zanjeer play a cop. I was told to copy his attitude as a cop instead of a female’s attitude from any film.”

Yukti Kapoor is a popular Indian television actress. She gained immense popularity with her TV show, Agnifera (2017), in which she played the character of ‘Ragini.’ She is known for serials like television shows Maddam Sir, Namah, Agnifera, and Balika Vadhu. She started her career with the serial Nani Si Kali Meri Ladli in 2010.

She got immense popularity with the TV serial, ‘Agniphera’ (2017). Also, she played the character of ‘Ragini’ opposite the TV actor, Ankit Gera, in this serial. She was roped in for the SAB TV serial, ‘Maddam Sir’ in 2020 along with other actors, like Gulki Joshi, Bhavika Sharma, and Sonali Pandit Naik.

Yukti met the popular TV actor, Rohan Mehra while shooting for her debut film ‘Uvaa’ in 2015. They became friends, and soon, they fell in love with each other. Later, the couple got separated; as they were not able to give time to each other due to their work commitments. She is in a rumored relationship with the businessman, Karan Danger.

Yukti Kapoor has come a long way. And despite the challenges, she stuck to her decision of not taking up projects that required her to expose herself. Talking about her journey and struggle, she shared with TOI, “I was 14 when I bagged a show on Doordarshan. That was easy but the following years were ridden with obstacles. I came to Mumbai seven years ago to pursue a career in acting. During this time, I got offers to play something I wasn’t comfortable doing - exposing. I declined some film projects to which I was required to expose. I want to be part of projects, which can be watched by families together.” 

She struggled for two years and faced many a rejection but vowed to keep moving ahead in life. The actress said, “I was told that I was not leadership material. I was a bit chubby then. I worked hard on myself. I am glad that I have been able to prove my detractors wrong. I struggled for two years and was all alone in a city like Mumbai. There were times when I felt dejected but I kept at it. I am not a great actor, but I am a quick learner and I am keen on honing my acting skills.” 

Actor Ankit Gera and Yukti Kapoor who play the lead protagonists Anurag and Ragini in &TV’s Agnifera are going to set the temperatures soaring with a very sensuous rain number. You will see them dance to the very popular 90’s number ‘Akhir Tumhe Ana Hai’ from the movie Yalgaar, much remembered for its catchy tune and sizzling chemistry between Sanjay Dutt and Nagma.

Both Ankit and Yukti have put their best foot forward to bring alive the song for their show. It has not been an easy task for both as the shoot took place in the middle of the night and it included being drenched continuously in front of wind blowers.  A source on set said “ Ankit had to shoot for more time under the rain as the scene also needed him to be drunk and plead with Ragini for forgiveness. He was so cold standing under the rain continuously that he refused to use a towel in between shots with the worry that a little bit of warmth would send his body into a freeze, he did not take any breaks and finished the shot. In fact, the only saving grace for him was the wine he had, not to play the drunk character but to save himself from the severe chill. On being asked how was the experience Ankit said “The song is one of my favorites, and I play it whenever I am strumming the guitar. Shooting for the song had its challenges but it was also a lot of fun. The chemistry between both Anurag and Ragini is being appreciated by the audiences and it is heart-warming to receive the love of our fans”
