Actress Surveen Chawla, who was recently seen in the web show 'Decoupled', has called R. Madhavan "a dream co-star to work with" and that "it has been a pleasure" for her to work with him on the show.Shedding light on the reason behind their impeccable on-screen chemistry and repartees, Surveen said, "I remember when we were doing the test shoot and the first scene of the show, it felt like Maddy (R. Madhavan) and I had known each other since forever. The moment I spoke to him on the first video call we had, I found him to be really chill and easy-breezy."

Talking about how Madhavan approaches a scene holistically, she said, "One very important thing about him that I noticed very early on during our interactions was that as an actor he is not thinking about just himself, or just his character, he's very giving and generous. He's thinking about the show."

"So that process and that kind of camaraderie for a show like this where you're playing partners, I think just worked beautifully. I couldn't have asked for a better partner to play Arya," she concluded created and written by Manu Joseph and directed by Hardik Mehta, 'Decoupled' follows the life of an urban Indian couple as they decide to go their separate ways. The series is available to stream on Netflix.

Decoupled starring R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla is here and so are the Twitter reviews. Created and written by Manu Joseph, and directed by Hardik Mehta, Decoupled follows the story of Arya Iyer (played by Madhavan) and Shruti (played by Surveen), a modern-day, urban couple in Delhi, who are heading towards separation but are awaiting the right time to break the news to their 12-year-old daughter. While Decoupled was just released today, on the 17th of December, it looks like netizens have already binge-watched the show, and are out with the verdict.

Going by the tweets on Decoupled, it is clear as day that fans have loved watching R. Madhavan on screen again. While one fan has hailed the actor’s ‘natural’ performance, others have loved his chemistry with Surveen. Furthermore, Twitterati has also appreciated the show for its humor and writing. One user said, “The BEST series currently! #Decoupled #Netflix Hilarious with a capital H @netflix @ActorMadhavan BRILLIANT sir.. and what a cameo @chetan_bhagat sir”. Another wrote, “#Decoupled on @netflix is probably the best com I have seen and laughed my heart out. Super talented @ActorMadhavan thank you for making this series.”.

Meanwhile, talking about the show, creator Manu Joseph said, “Decoupled is about a guy who can see in any situation what others are trained to ignore. Naturally, it gets him into trouble wherever he goes, and this sort of objectivity is not healthy for a man in a marriage. One of our goals was to keep it all real. The thing about comedy is that if it is not real it is not funny, and what is difficult about comedy is that every component in a scene has to fire for it to work”.

"Loneliness is not the scarcity of people, loneliness is when hot people don't want to be with you," says the protagonist Arya Iyer (played by R Madhavan) in Netflix's latest offering Decoupled. An author by profession and a full-time philosopher, Arya Iyer is constantly competing against his nemesis Chetan Bhagat. The real-life author plays himself in the show and keeps popping in and out.

Manu Joseph and Hardik Mehta have set Decoupled in the affluent high Delhi society where Arya somehow doesn't fit in as he observes everything and questions the most random things. His wife Shruti, played by Surveen Chawla, is a boss woman and someone easily who comes across as a young, rich woman who is perfect on the surface but actually deals with her broken marriage and an impending divorce.

While Arya and Shruti are clear that they want a divorce, the show revolves around the couple perpetually deciding when's the right time to break the big news to their 12-year-old daughter. They, however, continue to live under the same roof, are cordial at times, have dinners, and even flirt with other people. Decoupled's setting is believable and relatable.

Both Madhavan and Surveen deliver an earnest performance with their onscreen chemistry simply perfect for a couple who is heading towards divorce. They both stand out and that seems to be the biggest strength of Decoupled. While some dialogues definitely hit the mark, some others are so off-target, making us wonder if no writer realized we are in the post Me Too age.

With the show entirely in English, Decoupled writers infuse comedy via dialogues and you may find yourself chuckling more than once. Spread across eight episodes of almost 30 minutes each, Decoupled takes a long time to arrive at the plot. In the first few episodes, the writers don't delve into what exactly is leading to the divorce, leaving the viewer with little to empathize with the situation or protagonists. All we know is that the couple has fallen out of love and Arya Iyer has a theory for possibly everything.

What does make Decoupled a decent watch is its breezy handling of a heavy subject such as divorce and the lead performances. I mean how much more charming can Madhavan look onscreen even after all these years? If Decoupled is on your watch list this weekend, watch it strictly only for fun, R Madhavan's charm, and Surveen Chawla's on-point boss woman outfits.

R Madhavan is an actor who is known for his line of work and for presenting something new on the table every time he hit the screen. Interestingly, the actor is making the headlines for his upcoming series Decoupled wherein he will be sharing the screen space with Surveen Chawla. Helmed by Manu Joseph, the series happens to be a romantic comedy and it has been creating a massive buzz in the town. And while the fans have been eagerly waiting for the Decoupled, the makers have finally unveiled the trailer of this Manu Joseph directorial.

The over two-minute trailer features Madhavan and Surveen as a couple dealing with a troubled marriage and finding a way to resolve the differences. While the two seem to have fallen out of love, they decide to stay together for the sake of their daughter. In fact, they will also be seen toying with the idea of open marriage in this series based on relationships. Both Surveen and Madhavan looked promising in the trailer and their chemistry has left us wanting more.

Meanwhile, talking about the show, director Manu Joseph said, “Decoupled is about a guy who can see in any situation what others are trained to ignore.

Recalling the horrific incidents, she says, "I had faced I thrice in the South. This was just around the time I was transitioning into movies from television. So this director told me, 'There's a language barrier between us. I want to know every inch of your body. I was shocked. I didn't do the film."

She further continued, "Another time, it was a very famous National Award-winning director. We had done the Recee and trials and look tests too. But he got a guy from his team to call me and say, 'Ma'am, it's a really long association. So this will continue till the film is over. I didn't even understand what he wanted to say. Then, when I did, I clearly told him that if the director felt I'm talented enough, he will take me in the film. I don't have to barter myself for this. Despite being famous already, she had to battle severe criticism - from being called an 'over exposed' TV actress to an 'overweight girl at 56 kilos'. But that wasn't just it. Much to our horror, she reveals that she had to face the casting couch not once or twice but five times in her filmy career - thrice down South and twice here in Bollywood. Here, she gets talking about her untold story which is nothing less than shocking.

What about Bollywood? She says she's faced enough here as well. "A director wanted to see how my cleavage looked. Another director wanted to see how my thighs looked," Surveen concluded. She also revealed that there was a time when she was called overweight. "I went to give this audition and the person told me, 'You are overweight'. I was just 56 kilos and I thought the person needed glasses," she laughs out loud.

Another incident, she remembers, where she was called out for doing TV. "Yes, there was a time when people told me you are over-exposed because of television. For some time, I tried to hide it from producers and tell them I did TV only for a year but I realized later that 'Why am I doing this?' Isn't it going to be easier for a team to get someone who already knows how to do their lines?" she concluded.

After flaunting her baby bump for nine months, on April 15, 2019, Surveen Chawla and hubby Akshay Thakker welcomed their baby girl, Eva, into this world, and to announce her baby’s arrival, the Sacred Games actress, Surveen Chawla, had posted a picture of Eva’s tiny feet on social media and captioned it was, “We now have her tiny feet to fill the tiny shoes! Just feeling them is surreal, in a good way, of course. The feeling is inexplicable and I can’t describe it in words. I have a very good support system.
