When  Sudheer Babu had teamed up with Indraganti Mohana Krishna for last year’s rom-com, Sammphanam, he essayed the role of a chocolate boy. But the filmmaker is all set to give the actor an action-packed make-over for their next film, titled V. We have learned that Sudheer has hit the gym with a vengeance to bulk up to the play the role of a powerful cop in the film. “Sudheer Babu plays a respected and sincere police officer in V. To get in shape for this role, he’s been building his muscles and will be seen flaunting his body in the film. Although Sudheer has played a cop before, his character in V will be different from any police character that has appeared in  Telugu Cinema,” reveals a source close to the actor.

Tollywood actor Sudheer Babu is one of the few protagonists who give priority to content rather than character length. He is not only well known in Tollywood but also in Bollywood. The talented actor has got good reviews for his performance as a cop in his recent release V, directed by Indraganti Mohan Krishna. He will be next seen in the biopic directed by  Praveen Sattaru of ‘Chandamama Kathalu’ and ‘PSV Garuda Vega 126.18M’ fame, the film will be made as a Telugu-Hindi bilingual.

Sudheer Babu underwent extremely rigorous training to play Pullela Gopichand, a former Indian badminton player who’s the Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton team. For the uninitiated, Sudheer Babu was a professional badminton player before becoming an actor. The actor recently caught up with the media about the project.

Speaking to a popular Telugu media channel, he said, ''I know the game of badminton. I have some skills but need some practice. I think it’s enough to make some improvements to that talent. In fact, some biopics failed to entertain the audience, because the actors who played those roles focused only on the  Character's Body Language. They missed out on the soul of the character by focusing only on their walking, speaking, etc. If we want to know that person's soul, we have to be with him and, we have to travel with him. We need to know the twists and turns that happened in his life.''

Elaborating on his words, Sudheer said, ''I traveled with Pullela Gopichand for eight years. I played with him as a partner. However, there is a lot to know about him. I need to meet and talk to people in his life. We hope we will show the character nicely on the screen.''

revealed that he has taken advice but never any help from his father-in-law, yesteryear Telugu superstar Krishna, and brother-in-law, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. He said that if they helped him, it would be equivalent to the ‘giving (him) dowry’. Sudheer is married to Priyadarshini Ghattamaneni, daughter of Krishna and younger sister of Mahesh.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sudheer said, “I consult with them on whatever major decisions I am making but at the end of the day, I have made my own decisions for every project. Whatever I wanted to do, I have done it myself and decided whom I want to work with. Of course, I have considered whatever they have suggested but the final decision was mine. Sometimes, you might fail but the beauty of it is you learn from it and grow as an independent person.”

Sudheer added that he has never asked his in-laws to recommend his name for films or produce a film for him. “Till date, I never went to my father-in-law or Mahesh, asking them to put in a word with anyone. I never asked them to produce a film or guide me. I was into the distribution of films before, so I have a little experience and friends here and there, who have helped me in training. I made sure when I decided to come into films that I will never ask Mahesh or my father-in-law, Krishna Garu, (for help),” he said.

Former professional Badminton player turned actor Posani Naga Sudheer Babu, popularly known just as Sudheer Babu celebrates his birthday on May 11. The actor who works predominantly in Telugu films has done movies such as Ye Maaya Chesave, Shiva Manasulo Shruti, Dongaata, and Baaghi among others. In the video shared on Instagram, the actor was seen sweating hard on the badminton court as he was trying to hone his badminton skills. Dressed in a grey t-shirt and blue shorts, Sudheer was seen practicing the game to get into the skin of the character. Looks like the superstar doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned for the movie. 

To note, Gopichand is quite happy to have Sudheer essaying his role in the biopic. Sharing his excitement, the ace-badminton player called him a perfect choice for the movie as the superstar is also a professional badminton player. In fact, Sudheer has been Gopichand’s doubles partner. “He has also been my training partner, so he knows what I did and how I did it, and that’ll contribute a lot,” Gopichand added.

On the other hand, Sudheer has also been undergoing rigorous training for a while now for his thriller drama V wherein he will be seen in the role of a cop and required a certain look. In fact, he has been sharing videos of his workout sessions on social media. Interestingly, V will also star Nani playing a negative role for the first time. The movie is scheduled to release on March 25 next year.

The 15th film of actor Sudheer Babu was launched on Monday with a formal puja ceremony in Hyderabad. Actor-turned-director Harshavardhan is helming this yet-to-be-titled project, while Narayan Das K Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao will jointly produce it under the Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP banner. The regular shoot for the film will begin next week.

In 2020, Babu appeared in “V”, produced by Dil Raju. Sudheer becomes the Number 1 ranked badminton performer of Andhra Pradesh as well as Karnataka.

Sudhir Babu has also worked with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in the very famous film Baaghi (29 April 2016). Babu was among the top 10 badminton players selected by the Sports Authority of India. He charged 7 crores per film.
