Shahid Kapoor is a famous Bollywood actor, who has worked predominantly in Bollywood. Apart from acting in Bollywood, he is also known for his dance, looks, and romantic image. He was attracted to acting from the very beginning. Shahid has got acting as an inheritance from his father and he is an actor as well as a great dancer. Because his background was filmy, actor-director Pankaj Kapoor’s son Shahid entered the glamor world as a back dancer and worked in several ads. He learned to dance at Shiamak Davar’s Dance Academy in Mumbai. In Subhash Ghai’s film Taal, he danced as a back dancer for the first time in front of the screen. In the early part of his career, he had to face rejections many times.

Sahid’s parents separated when he was only three years old but he went on to live with his mother. But after getting divorced from Shahid’s mother, his father married actress Supriya Pathak. He has 3 siblings Ishaan Khattar, Sana Kapoor, and Ruhaan Kapoor. Shahid Kapoor is married to  Mira Rajput in the year 2015. Shahid has 2 children, the daughter’s name is ‘Misha’ and the son’s name is ‘Jain’. However, Kareena Kapoor married Saif Ali Khan and Shahid married Mira Rajput. Shahid Kapoor and Mira Gupta got married in the year 2015. Both had arranged marriage. Shahid made his debut in films with the film Ishq Vishk in 2003 directed by Ken Ghosh and this film was also successful. After this, he got an opportunity to work in Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivah in 2006, in which he appeared in the lead role with Amrita Rao. This film took Shahid to the heights of the sky overnight and the audience praised his character and his performance in the film. Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’ in 2007 is considered one of Shahid’s most memorable films to date. In 2009, Shahid Kapoor’s performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film ‘Kaminey’ received a lot of praise from the audience.

The career from 2010 to 2012 did not prove to be good for Shahid. During this time he worked in films like Dil Bole Hadippa, Chance Pe Dance, Pathshala, Badmaash Company, Milenge Milenge, Mausam, and Teri Meri Kahani, but none of these films were successful at the box office. Shahid’s films ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’ and ‘R Rajkumar’ were released in the year 2013.

Prabhudheva’s directorial venture ‘R Rajkumar’ got average success at the ticket window. In this film, Shahid won the hearts of the audience through his amazing action sequences. Shahid’s movie Haider was released on 2 October 2014. Shahid Kapoor was honored with the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his effective performance in the film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Apart from this, his performance in the films Padmavat and Kabir Singh was also appreciated. Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Kabir Singh proved to be very successful at the box office. ‘Kabir Singh’ was Shahid Kapoor’s first solo film to enter the 100 crore club. Shahid’s upcoming film is Jersey, in which he will be seen as a cricketer.

Shahid Kapoor is a brilliant actor and he is all set for the release of his much-awaited movie Jersey. The film that was supposed to release in December last year is finally released on April 14. Well, the actor along with his leading lady Mrunal Thakur is on a promotional spree and recently these two interacted with Pinkvilla exclusively and opened their heart out about their film and a lot of things. Shahid has been great with his comic timings and has worked in some comedy movies as well so when we asked him when will we get to see him in a comedy film, the actor revealed that he would love to do something like this. 

Shahid Kapoor said, “Somebody has to offer me, I am actually wondering why I am doing all these intense roles again and again. Dramatic roles let's not just say intense. But, I would love to do something like this. I am actually quite tired after Kabir Singh, after Jersey and you know even Ali’s film and to some extent even Raj & DK’s shows, these are all intense dramatic, slightly broody in very different ways, they are all very different from each other, but they are very demanding and they suck the emotion out of you. So I would love to do something easy and chill.”

Mrunal Thakur interrupted and told  shahid, “Why don’t I get to do a dance number with you?” To this Shahid revealed that it has been a long time since he has actually danced. But he also added that those movies are also not nice. He said, “gaane ache hote hai picturein achi nahi hoti, use better hai picture achi karo.”

Discussing the process that Sandeep and Gowtham followed while remaking their own films, Shahid says, "For Sandeep, it was difficult to deal with another actor who was coming into his creation with his own vibe. Kabir Singh was a challenging journey in that sense. I have to hand it to Sandeep who was yet quite open and allowed me to express things as I felt. He had seen some of my work and placed his trust in me. Gowtham was keen to make Jersey afresh - he was game to alter the fabric of the film. By the time we came to the filming, it didn’t feel like we were recreating a drama. It felt as good as an original project. For both these directors, remaking a film close to their hearts is more challenging than it is for an actor. For the directors, it is a bigger challenge because, for them, they’re filming a story all over again. For an actor, it’s still a new experience. Like I was doing it all for the first time, but both the directors had had their journeys with the film once before. As an artist.

I think these films come with a sense of responsibility because you loved what the original had to offer. It was credible stuff and you don’t want to let that film down. In both cases, we didn’t go back to the original film till much later. It’s nice to work on something which already has merit and quality attached to it. I will be curious to watch something like that. It would be a great exercise to see how you feel when you watch the original and then, watch its remake. When I saw Jersey, it inspired and motivated me. It had hit me hard and changed me forever. That little self-pity we have for ourselves died. The character was so inspiring - it was reason enough to not let this film pass.”

Shahi Kapoor feels it is a good thing that art is widening the horizon and the audience is accepting it. After all, that's what art is supposed to do. He starts off, "There is no obsession. I am glad that the audience is noticing and appreciating good content. It is opening up the horizons. What is art, after all? It is something that can break boundaries. It can break stereotypes, it can break mindsets because it is talking about life and it is representing humanity and we all share that. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we never realized it. We kept saying 'he is different and I am different, [but] we all breathe the same air. We are meant to co-exist. I think we all have issues in our heads - not wanting to accept and acknowledge that. Art is meant to do that and remind us of the fact that we are all the same. We share the same emotions, feelings, human experiences, and struggles. We are all figuring out how to do it. How to be a good parent, good child, good friend, how to feel good about yourself."
