Nikitin Dheer is an Indian TV artist and film actor.

Actor Nikitin Dheer has a lot to look forward to in his professional and personal life. As he prepares to become a father, the actor admits that he does not spend his days making plans, but rather prefers to go with the flow. The actor and his wife, Kratika Sengar Dheer, surprised everyone recently when they announced on social media that they are expecting a child. “The Junior coming this 2022,” he wrote in the announcement post.
Dheer says, “I am very excited about becoming a father, but I believe it is too soon to discuss it in depth. We’ve just announced the news and aren’t giving it much thought.”
The 41-year-old further informs, “Right now, I’m just focusing on my work because the lockdown has ended and things are finally returning to normal. However, as a family, we are overjoyed with the news.” One wonders if he is so focused on finishing his work because he intends to take paternity leave after the baby is born. When you mention it to him, he responds, “Itne Aage ka plan Karenge hum, Aur Abhi hi sab normal Hua hai.” The Chennai Express (2013) actor goes on to say, “We are ordinary people who are just trying to get by and make a living.”
The shares, “I am trying to support her as any man would during this time,” when asked how Kratika is enjoying this phase. He adds, “I’m doing everything I can to help her through this difficult time. She is a very strong young lady. In addition, we are extremely fortunate to live with our parents in a typical Indian household. My mum and dad are pampering her a lot. Pehle bhi thi, aur ab toh aur zyada ho gai hai. Touchwood, she’s enjoying the phase,” ends the actor, who is eager to know the reaction to his performance in Antrim: The Final Truth.
Chennai Express fame Nikitin Dheer married Thangabali aka Nikitin Dheer of Chennai Express fame five years back. Their love story was quite filmy and trust us, not at all quintessential. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla for Love Talkies, the two opened up for the first time about their marriage, what keeps them going and what keeps them hooked to each other despite several years. Nikitin, who is kinda and media-shy, opened up well sharing quite a few anecdotes from their wedding functions.
Kratika revealed that it was Nikitin's dad Pankaj Dheer who approached her to marry his son Nikitin. "He just asked me to meet Nikitin and I had watched Chennai Express then and found Nikitin really hot. So, I said yes and I met him. We ticked off initially over common likes and dislikes. Mostly we spoke about dogs because both of us are dog lovers. Things hit it off. Later, dad Pankaj Dheer asked me if I want to his daughter-in-law in front of everyone and I was red," she shared. Nikitin added, "In the middle of the day, dad called and asked me on this and I was like whatever you deem fit." Things just fell in place for the duo since.
Before this, Kratika revealed how Nikitin proposed to her in the cinema hall, which she was unaware of. "He whispered 'I Love you' in my ears while we were watching a movie and I was like, 'what?' He thought I had an ego and hence we did not talk about it later." So, he did propose to me earlier but I just did not realize it.
Last seen performing stunts in 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' two years ago, Nikitin Dheer is back on the small screen. He will now be seen as a warrior from the times gone by in 'Nagarjun'. He says, “I play a grey character, which will be that of a right guy on the wrong side. The show is a mix of mythology and fiction, and my role is demanding and compelling. I have performed all the actions by myself. I got back to MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and sword fighting and trained for six months.”
It was the character of Thangabali in Chennai Express that made him a star overnight, but unfortunately, that didn’t materialize into more roles in Bollywood. He observes, “My persona came across so strong in the movie, that it dissuaded many to work with me. Also, I was being offered generic roles in films. Now, I want to do roles that would showcase other sides of me.”
Kratika recently said that she wouldn’t like to work with Nikitin in a show. Does the second it? “I totally relate to what she said. Everything pertaining to your marriage and spouse becomes too personal, making it difficult to accept criticism over your onscreen chemistry. We have been offered many reality shows together. I have always been guarded about my personal life, especially when it comes to preserving the sanctity of marriage. And I’d like to keep it that way,” he says.
You fondly remember him as Thangabali from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-Starrer Chennai Express. We are talking about Nikitin, the baddie with a soft heart from the super-hit 2013 film. After doing a string of negative characters, Nikitin will be seen in a positive role for the first time in Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's movie, Shershaah. The movie is based on the life of Param Veer Chakra winner and army captain Vikram Batra. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, makers are releasing the film digitally on August 12.
Ahead of the movie's release, Zoom Digital did an interview with Nikitin, in which he spoke about his character, his long association with co-star Sidharth Malhotra, and more.
When we asked the actor about his experience working with Sidharth, Nikitin shared a lesser-known fact about his bond with Sidharth.
"I know Sidharth since before he was an actor when he started off as a model. We were gym buddies. So for me, when I worked with him after all these years when he has become a star he treated me the same way. And we were just friends and it was an awesome experience working with him. And I keep telling him that we really need to work again soon and I hope that we do. I think Sidharth has done a fantastic job in this film and I really feel that the audience will see that too," shared Nikitin.
The actor further spoke about playing Majoj Ajay Jasrotia in the movie. Nikitin said that playing an army officer was always on his bucket list. "And it is something that I have ticked off my bucket list. For the first time in my career, I am playing a positive character. So that is a very big plus for me to play such a glorious character and playing something honorable is something nice," he said.
Mumbai With a height of 6’4”, a powerful physique, and an intimidating aura, Nikitin Dheer created quite a wave as “Thangaballi” on the big screen. Now, the actor will host Best of Fear Files on the small screen.
Having won critical appreciation and box office success as an antagonist, Nikitin is excited to explore the world of television as the narrator of the show, directed by his father Pankaj Dheer. Incidentally, Tanushree Dutta was previously chosen to host the show, but when her contract came up for renewal, the show’s makers roped in Nikitin who has just had a popular stint on the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi.
“The reason I accepted BOFF was that it is completely different from my previous work in Bollywood so far,” Nikitin said. “Till now I have mostly done characters with a negative streak, so I felt it was a good opportunity to connect with my audience through a different genre. I was instantly drawn to the show owing to its gritty content. Most importantly, I am really excited to be directed by my father as it is the first time we are working together.”
It’s not all been positive news for the actor though. Recently, there have been rumors that on Khatron Ke Khiladi, Nikitin benefitted from being the host, filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s favorite, and got undue advantages over the other contestants. Nikitin however, chooses to simply shrug off those reports. “Rohit did not favor me,” the actor asserted. “This is simply wrong information and you can ask him about it too,” he said.
Nikitin Dheer is all set to send shivers down our spine with his upcoming series Raktanchal. The MX Player series sees the Chennai Express famed star get under the skin of an antihero from the 1980s. As menacing as he looks, Dheer confesses to Pinkvilla that it wasn't difficult for him to adopt the role and make it his own. "The way my character was shaped, we had a special method intact on how we are going to approach it. We had workshops and among us, as actors, we spoke and (understood) the vision," he revealed.
Apart from the workshops and discussions, Dheer added that the director gave him the freedom to adapt and portray the character. "A lot of things were left to me, at my imagination," he added. While the theme of the series was intense, Dheer revealed the scenario off-camera wasn't as intense. Gushing about his team, he said it was a joy to work with the team. "It was nothing but fun. Haste-khelte time nikal gaya. We really enjoyed the whole process and journey," he said. The actor added there were numerous fond memories he made on the sets. However, there was one that he absolutely cherished.
"One of the nicer ones was when we started shooting, we were shooting in a haveli on the banks of river Ganges. Towards the evening, we would sit quietly by the bank and enjoy the sunset. It was just a very calm and spiritual moment for us city folks like us who live in cities like Mumbai which is always on the run. We don't get to experience (such things)," he recalled.
There have been associated with numerous characters over the past few years. However, fans associate him with the antagonist roles. Addressing this, Dheer said that even he is drawn toward the antihero roles. "I get very drawn to the anti-hero because it is something that attracts me. Also, I feel that every actor has limitations. I am 6'4 feet tall, so there are a lot of characters I cannot play. Like I can't play a college boy, I can't play somebody who gets bullied that people will find believable that I am being bullied. It may not work. Once you understand that thing about yourself, that's the only way to move forward, Dheer said.
"As an actor, I have understood my own physicality and my own strength and weakness. And these characters are right my ally and I can do justice with them," he said. However, the actor adds that his future projects include positive roles as well.

Dheer shot to fame with his role in Chennai Express. The actor reunites with director Rohit Shetty with Sooryavanshi. The actor deemed the experience as a homecoming and confessed he would work for Shetty all his life. "I could work with him for the rest of my life. He's my favorite director," he said, before adding that returning to the sets with Shetty on the helm was "like going back to a second home. Because the unit and people are the same. They treat you like family, the atmosphere is very nurturing," he concluded.
Set in the 1980s, MX Player’s Raktanchal tells the story of Waseem Khan (Nikitin Dheer), a gangster in Purvanchal, the eastern end of Uttar Pradesh. He is the tender mafia who also smuggles arms and ammunition. His power in the region is unmatched as every lucrative project gets rigged in his favor despite opening up for public bids, with loads of money being handed out to the government officials. While it has been the case every year, this year is different as he is challenged by the anti-hero Vijay Singh (Kranti Prakash Jha), who is out to avenge his father’s murder.
As their war of attrition continues, Waseem is backed by minister Pujari Singh (Ravi Khanvilkar), on whose support he has been running the badlands apart from brewing liquor and coal mining. On the other hand, Vijay is aided by his uncle Bechan (Chittaranjan Tripathy) and cousin Chunnu (Basu Soni) and soon, Vijay starts beating Waseem on his own game, one killing at a time.
The Purvanchal serves as the perfect backdrop for this gangster drama as the area has become synonymous with crime, corruption, Katta, and crude vocabulary. As expected, there are sequences with gunshots, sights of blood squirting out of every body part and the cuss words don’t seem to end. Albeit the show, developed by Sanjeev K Rajat, Sarvesh Upadhyay, and Shashak Raai and directed by Ritam Srivastava, has nothing new to offer as the audience has been already familiarised with the Indian mafia world with films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Satya and shows like Sacred Games, Mirzapur, and the most recent Palatal Lok.
