The COVID 19 pandemic has come up with a lot of changes in our lives. Not just it has made the masks and sanitizer our permanent partners, but it has also led to major lifestyle changes in our lives. In fact, this pandemic has also changed the way we celebrate our festivals as well. So, as the holy festival of Navratri has begun, everyone has special plans to celebrate it amid COVID restrictions along with ensuring to keep the spirit of the festival alive. In fact, several celebs also observe Navratri's fasts and shared their plans for Navratri.
Manish Verma who plays the role of Gulshan in Zee TV’s Teri Meri Ikk Jindri said, “I have been fasting regularly for almost 6 years now. As a kid, I didn’t really know the true meaning of fasting and why a fast is kept. I believed that at a fast you get to eat really delicious and festive types of food. It was only much later when I started fasting that I realized the true meaning and why certain items or a certain kind of food are avoided. I also understood the kind of inner positivity that one needs to maintain while fasting. I usually try to consume absolutely healthy food which is prepared with less oil. The idea is not just to take care of the calories but also to seek the positive and mental benefits that healthy food can bring to your body during such a pious time. This year I plan to observe Falahar Navratri wherein I will be consuming only fresh fruits and juices across 9 days.”
Raghav Tiwari who plays the role of Aditya in Zee TV’s Hamariwali Good News shared, “I am a momma's boy, I don’t know much about what is to be done in Navratri, so my mom guides me on this front, and I do it accordingly. Usually, I perform a pooja every morning and then fast for the entire day. I love eating ‘Sabudana Khichdi’ during the fast, also my mom makes amazing ‘shade Ke Pakode’ so we eat that too. I think these fasts help to detox your body from all the regular junk that you eat. I think it is a much-needed break for your body and you get to eat all the healthy food for the day. And not only for religious reasons, I feel everyone should fast to keep their body healthy.”
Neha Marda who plays the role of Shubhra in Zee TV’s Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti said, “So I have been fasting for the past 14 to 15 years. I absolutely enjoy the festival of Navratri because this is the only time when we can fast for 9 days continuously. When I was a kid, I was the only girl in my entire family, the only ‘Kanya’, so everybody used to treat me like Goddess Lakshmi or sometimes Durga or Saraswathi and I used to feel very special about that. Despite having heard the story around Navaratri celebrations several times, my mom & dad like to keep reciting the story behind Navaratri to us and I always find it interesting, each time they narrate the story. Earlier on when I used to fast, I used to eat only Falhar that too just once a day. However, due to the pandemic and the growing need to take care of our health, this year I plan on consuming a proper meal at one particular interval while fasting the rest of the day. We really need to take care of ourselves and I believe God helps those who help themselves.”
Payal Shah who plays the role of Kiara in Zee TV’s Apna Time Bhi Aayega said, “I celebrate Navratri every year and it is one of my favorite festivals too. I have actually come to love fasting and relish the delicious Sabudana Wada, khichdi, and aloo puri which are prepared around this time of the year. I actually wait for Navratri so that I can have all these Falhari dishes. However, this year I have been unable to keep a fast during Navratri because of a hectic shoot schedule and I hope to resume maybe the following year. I wish everyone a very Happy Navratri, stay safe.”

Neha Marda who plays Shubhra in Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti said, “The one fundamental right that I take very seriously is the right to equality by supporting my family and being independent myself. In spite of being a part of a conservative family, I have equal rights in every family decision taken in the house. Also, the fundamental duty that I think everyone should take seriously is towards the environment/nature. I like planting a lot of trees in and around my house and I also try to save water wherever I can. I have felt proud of my country at every moment of my life and I believe that one does not need a special occasion or a moment to feel proud, it’s in my blood and I am proud to be an Indian.”
Siddhanth Vir Surryavanshiwho plays Kuldeep in Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti said, “I feel proud of our country's democracy as well as the opportunities that our country provides to its citizens. Every time we have elections, we get to choose our Government, whether it is for our state or the country. A lot of countries don't give their citizens such an opportunity. Also, the peacefully conducted election in India proves to the world that inspires such a vast diversity in our country, we can smoothly conduct elections without any hiccups. This really makes me proud.”
Actress Neha Marda, who plays a girl faced with atrocities by her chauvinistic husband in "Doli Armaanon Ki", believes the show gives out a positive message for women to encourage them to live life on their own terms. The actress was recently in Kanpur to talk to a group of women about their basic rights in a marriage, and about women empowerment. She said: "I believe we're delivering a very relevant and pertinent social message through our show 'Doli Armaanon Ki'."The show, aired on Zee TV, has so far captured Urmi's life after marriage -- how she enters wedlock with hopes but sees them getting shattered with each passing day. Her husband Samrat, played by Mohit Malik, is a male chauvinist with regressive and sexist views on the man-woman relationship.
After seeing most of her dreams as a wife fall apart, Urmi faces domestic abuse at the hands of Samrat, who even cheats on her with another woman. The show recently completed 200 episodes and it has reached a turning point where Urmi's character decides that she will take no more and stands up for herself instead of staying trapped in a troubled marriage. Neha, who is proud to essay the character, said: "In treating domestic abuse and infidelity as absolute deal-breakers and standing up for herself, Urmi lays down a fine example for scores of women in our country trapped in bad marriages to emulate."The show is an attempt to reach out to these women and help them find their voice and lost dignity."The talk was part of Zee TV's initiative to have a countrywide series of symposiums addressing women on the subject of their basic rights in a marriage.
The makers of Zee TV’s ‘Doli Armaano Ki’, Spellbound Productions, threw a party to celebrate the completion of 260 episodes of the show. The bash was hosted at Villa 69 in Juhu, Mumbai on Tuesday, December 2nd. The actors of the show arrives a little late due to their shoot schedules but they stayed for the celebrations for a longer to make up for the lost time. Pearl Grey, the owner of the production house, was amongst the first ones to turn up and greet all the guests. Lead actors Mohit Malik and Neha Marda looked absolutely comfortable in each other’s company and Mohit’s wife Neha has also seen bonding with the entire team. Guddi Maruti kept everyone in splits with her jokes. Whereas, Urvashi Dholakia, who happens to be Pearl's good friend, also attended the do.
TV actress Neha Marda, who we have been seen playing the part of the betrayed yet courageous wife Urmi in Zee TV’s ‘Doli Armaano Ki’, spoke to Pinkvilla.com about her daily struggle to maintain a sound professional and married life, her pitiable work hours, her real-life husband and much more! Excerpts from the interview: I don't talk of my sleep and shoot hours else my fans would start pitying me.
We had come to know earlier that you are having a tough time dealing with long work shifts and your personal life? Is all well now or the matter is yet to be solved?
Well, for any actor working for long hours, it will always be an issue especially when you're married to someone living in another city. It is completely the same with me. I am just lucky that my husband and in-laws understand my problem. It has not been sorted yet but we make the efforts from both sides to stay happy and connected. No complaints anymore though. How often do you meet or communicate with your husband Ayushman?
Ayushman has begun traveling to Mumbai more often these days as he understands my deadlines. For major family functions, I go to Patna taking leave in advance. We meet every month for 45 days.
For how long do you plan to continue with your current acting project? Is a work break on the cards? No break as of now as my character is picking up and I love my job. Yes, it is stressful but I am enjoying every bit of it.
In ‘Doli Armaano Ki’ we have seen your character Urmi break the conventional norms of marriage and stand up for her own self. How can we see her character developing in the coming episodes?
Urmi’s character has been developing in every episode. Actually, for my role, I take inspiration from what today’s woman is and I find that lovely because I do know many women who undergo so much torture in their real lives. I hope my show and character help them stand up against the violence they face in their life.
We have watched you take a similar stand-in ‘Balika Vadhu’ too where you went against the wrong practices of your orthodox mother-in-law Dada. Was getting into Urmi’s shoes easy for you after playing Gehna?
There is a bit of me in every role I do. I guess standing up for myself has always been my habit. So, it is always a lot easier to play such roles and a pleasure too.
What is your daily routine like?
I think it is better I don't talk about my sleep and shoot hours else my fans would start pitying me. I take an hour for makeup and to get ready for my role. I am back on the sets within half an hour to 40 minutes post a lunch break. Any plans for Diwali? What are you going to do at the festival? I am hoping I get to go home to my in-laws on Diwali. I've not had time to prepare anything for the festival due to my shoot schedule. So I've left it to my mother-in-law and mom entirely. Do you wish to work in the TV industry for a long time? I love this medium so yes I intend to and if films happen along the way which is keen on I'd surely try my hand at that too.
