Meera Chopra is a renowned Indian film actress and model.

Priyanka Chopra’s second cousin, Meera Chopra, who is known for her stint in the horror film 1920 London alongside Sharman Joshi, has now filed an FIR complaint after being reportedly dumped by an interior designer. The actress has taken to social media to rally for women’s safety as no action has been taken against the accused in her case.
In the recent past, Meera had an outburst on social media while posing questions about women’s safety in the country. When asked about the same, the actor told Bombay Times, that she had been duped by her interior designer and even after lodging an official complaint no action was taken against the alleged accused. Meera reportedly opined that people who attempt fraud should be answerable to the lawmakers of the society.
“I was duped by my interior designer. I had filed an FIR against him nearly two months ago, yet no action has been taken against him. These people should be answerable to lawmakers and society. If nobody questions them then it only encourages them to do it over and over again,” she said. It appears that after paying a hefty amount to the designer, Meera left for a 12-day shooting schedule. Upon returning back, she was reportedly unhappy with the designer’s work. She asked the alleged designer to end the contract and return her pending money. However, the designer refused and she then lodged an FIR against him.
The complaint was lodged under Sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting modesty of a woman) of the IPC. “I approached the police regarding this and now I have taken to social media. I am not going to stop until some action is taken against him," Meera added.
In the recent past, Meera took to social media to raise the issue while tagging the Chief Minister’s office. She wrote, "#womansafety should be the utmost priority where you live, but then why do lawmakers shy away from taking action? A girl living alone should be protected anyhow."

Priyanka Chopra Jonas happens to be Parineeti’s elder cousin and sister. While Mannara Chopra is the paternal cousin of actresses Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra.
Priyanka Chopra was a simple girl with an army background from Bareilly but today she is a global icon, a superstar, and an Oscar-nominated producer. Her journey has spiraled through two decades of relentless filmmaking, pushing boundaries, and exploring markets. But the fruits of the labor are only bored by the labor. Audiences are fond of Priyanka but her shadow does not provide the same coolness to other members of her family. Parineeti is still making her mark in Bollywood but before her, came cousin Meera Chopra.
Meera Chopra has been acting in films for over a decade and a half now. She started with a Tamil film in 2005 called Anbe Aaruyire and has been working in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada since. Her first Hindi film was Gang of Ghosts in 2014. Meera in a recent interview with Zoom opened up on the backend of her acting journey. She said, “I have not got any work because of Priyanka. If I needed a producer, they have not cast me as I am her sister,". She mentioned that people did take her seriously because she comes from a family that knows cinema.
She further mentioned that being related to Priyanka did not give her any boost in her career but it benefitted her in a way that people took her seriously. Meera’s second Hindi film was in 1920 London which faired well at the box office. She further explained that she is happy that she did not have to get compared to Priyanka because that could weigh heavy. Meera’s latest Hindi film was Section 375 in 2019.

She also shared the verdict of the case filed in the cybercrime division by Hrithik Roshan.
Kangana revealed all these details when she was on a promotional spree for her film, Hansal Mehta’s Simran. Kangana made these explosive claims on two talk shows while promoting the film. The film was also embroiled in many controversies.
Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Meera Chopra debuted in Bollywood with Satish Kaushik’s Gangs of Ghosts. Meera was last seen in Vikram Bhatt’s 1920 London with Sharman Joshi.
Meera Chopra will soon be making her Bollywood debut in the third installment of Vikram Bhatt's '1920'. She is Priyanka Chopra's 3rd cousin according to sources. Apparently, Prachi Desai was originally signed to be the actress in the movie, and Meera Chopra was scheduled to make her debut in another project. However, Prachi walked out, citing date issues, and Meera filled in her spot. Meera has previously worked in films down South and is not new to the world of showbiz. She came into the limelight of Bollywood circles once she hired Priyanka Chopra's ex-manager, Prakash Jaju to help shape her career.
Meera Chopra, who will appear in 'Gang of Ghosts' soon, seems to not be too fond of her cousin, Parineeti Chopra. Parineeti had previously stated," Meera is not my cousin. She is a cousin's cousin's cousin. We don't even meet and talk. So she is not really my family,".Meera now lashed back saying, "When Parineeti talks like that... I think it is stupid... Why would you talk like that. It doesn't disturb me as I don't have any emotional connect with her. I don't remember the time spent with her,". She adds, "We all have been brought up together 20 years ago. We used to stay together. All brothers were close to each other before they split and were brought up in different cities. Parineeti is young, Priyanka and I are of the same age...We are close,".She further hits out at Parineeti by saying, "Priyanka is the only superstar in the family and she will always be the only one. I have her unconditional support. She is a girl with a golden heart and I am lucky to have her as family,".
Look, I did a South film first because it came to me. I was not trying for it. If a Hindi director had come to me with a film I would have done that first and I would have done my debut with Bollywood films. The South director saw my picture in some magazine and got in touch with me and asked me to come down to Chennai and meet them for the role in the film. I went there and I came to know that it was a big-budget film that had a superhit hero playing the main lead and it had AR Rahman's music, so I figured out that there was no point in saying no to this film. Thus I did it. For every movie I did in the South I always used to say that this is my last film here but it didn't happen as I continued getting tempting offers. After three years, I was fed up and came to Mumbai and got this film.
In a statement posted on Instagram Stories on Sunday, she wrote, "We all want to get vaccinated and we all are trying our best to do that. Similarly, I also tried trying asking for help from people I know, and after 1 month of trying I was able to get myself registered in one of the centers."
She continued, "I was just asked to send in my Aadhaar card. The ID that has been floating on social media is not mine. I was asked for my Aadhaar card for the registration and that’s the only ID I gave. No ID is valid until it has your signature. I myself saw that so-called ID card for the first time when it came on Twitter. I totally condemn such practices and if any such ID has been made I would want to know how and why.”
Meera's statement comes after reports of her having 'faked' her way to securing a vaccination began doing the rounds online. Earlier this week, Meera had shared a picture of herself getting the vaccination, at a facility in Thane. Shortly afterward, an identification card that seemingly showed her posing as a frontline worker emerged online.
Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Meera Chopra has opened up about her struggles in the film industry. Stating that her relationship with cousin Priyanka hasn’t helped her journey in the showbiz world, Meera revealed that she has had her own share of struggles to bag roles in movies.
After doing movies in South India, Meera ventured into the Hindi film industry with Satish Kaushik’s 2014 comedy-drama Gang Of Ghosts. She was also seen in 1920 London and Section 375.
Meera says, “The only time when I came to Bollywood there was a buzz that Priyanka’s sister was also coming but honestly, I have not faced many comparisons. I have not got any work because of Priyanka. The producer has not cast me just because I am her sister. Honestly, being related to her has not helped me in my career but it has really helped me in a way that people did take me seriously. They did not take me for granted as they knew I was coming from a family who knew cinema. That is the only privilege I got. Otherwise, I had to struggle.”
Buying a house with your hard-earned money is always special and dream come true for most. However, this dream becomes fulfilled only when one is able to design and decorate the house as per one’s needs. This stage takes time and is a smooth affair for most but not everyone is lucky. Meera Chopra of 1920 London (2016) and Section 375 (2019) fame was one such person who had a harrowing time while designing her house. The actress had to even file an FIR against her interior decorator and is still awaiting justice.
Bollywood Hungama has a copy of the FIR which has been lodged at Oshiwara Police station under Sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting modesty of a woman).
Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Meera Chopra said, “I bought a new house in Andheri, Mumbai. I hired an interior designer from Oshiwara, named Rajinder Dewan, to design the house. I had to go to Banaras for a shoot for 15-20 days. So we signed an agreement and the price we fixed was Rs. 17 lakhs. He asked me to pay Rs. 8 lakhs, that is, nearly 50% of the payment in advance and he assured me that he’ll get most of the work while I am out of town. I didn’t know him that well but there was a trust factor. 50% advance koi deta bhi nahi hai. Yet, I did as I trusted him to take care of the house.”
Meera Chopra then states that she was shocked when she returned from the shoot, “I had given him designs and had told him to use certain kind of woodwork and ply. Since Mumbai is a humid city, you need to use very good quality material. But when I came back, I realized that the material he has used is very substandard. Later, I found out that most interior decorators follow this practice of using inferior quality material. I told him to change it. He refused. He is quite senior to me; he’s nearly 50 years old. So I respectfully told him ‘Aap please Aise mat Karo. Nahin toh main aapse kaam nahi kara paungi’. To which he got extremely abusive in front of all the workers. You won’t believe this; he pushed me out of my own house and told me ‘Tum Aise bola mat Karo…Warna workers Kaam Nahi Karenga's. Imagine, unhone meri hi ghar se mujhe bahar nikal diya!”
Meera Chopra continued, “I came home and sent him a message that ‘I won’t be able to work with you. Please provide the bills of the expenditure you have done till now and please return the balance amount’. However, he didn’t return any money. He gave me certain handwritten bills. After which he disappeared.”
She added, “This is why I went to the police station and filed an FIR. Ab tak uss FIR pe koi action hua nahi hai. It's been 2 months. I was quiet about it. But as a girl staying alone in Mumbai, I can only go to a certain extent to get help. I don’t have a family here. I know some people here par main Ek extent Tak use favor orang Sakti hoon. There’s a police department and they are supposed to do their work.”
She also said, “Now it’s no longer about the money. I mean I am not denying that money is not important. This is my first house and hence it’s very special. What’s shocking is that he was relatively known to me Aur Woh Ek Akeli Ladki Ke Saath Aisa market Chale Gaye.”
Meera Chopra then said that several people have had a similarly difficult time with their interior decorators, “I had tweeted about my grievance on Twitter and a lot of people had replied that most interior designers dupe people. So I am also trying to create awareness that agar Kisi Ke Saath is Tarah see Kuch great ho Raha hai, then the police should take immediate action. This is because it’s happening on a very rampant basis, especially in Mumbai. In our city, kisi ke paas time nahi hota hai roz ja ke ghar dekhne ka. Hence, the whole arrangement works on trust and these people take unfair advantage of it.”
The actress came to Delhi a day before the Lockdown was announced and Meera Chopra couldn't be more glad about this. "It would have been depressing staying alone for such a long time when you can't even step out. I strongly feel that this is the time when we have to stand by each other and take care of each other. And as young people, we have to take the responsibility to ensure that our parents don't go out and stay safe. So, I am glad that I came back. Many of my friends are stuck in Mumbai, and I know it is getting difficult for them to keep their mental peace. I hope we all come out of this stronger," she says. She adds that she is spending a major part of her time at home playing with her nieces. "My biggest stress-busters are my two nieces. I have started doing all the kids' stuff with them like painting, playing games and they are reminding me of my own childhood days," says Meera, adding, "I am doing a lot of cooking as well. I am also learning acupressure at home by watching videos online."
She continued, “Agar koi normal Ladki Se koi Rs. 8 lakh Leke Chala Jata, who Toh FIR Bhi Nahi Kar Paati. Hence, I want to put this out on a public platform that such kind of behavior is not done.”
Meera Chopra also had a complaint against Rajinder Dewan’s daughter, Richa Malhotra, “She is of my age. She used to accompany her father to my house. And I have always said this that is Desh Mein sisterhood Nahi hai. Ek aurat dusri aurat ki help nahi karti. She has no remorse that her father conned another girl for lakhs of rupees. She should tell her father that what he’s doing is wrong. Sadly, people stoop down to such levels because of money and everyone keeps quiet. But someone needs to raise their voice.”
