Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor's plans to donate plasma will have to be put on hold, a  senior official of King George’s Medical University said on Tuesday. The famed singer who tested positive in March and has since then recovered completely has now decided to donate her plasma for the treatment of Coronavirus patients. 

A team of expert doctors from Lucknow’s King George Medical (KGMU) was set to visit the singer's residence to collect her blood sample and run it through tests to see if she could go ahead with her donation. However, the singer will have to wait a little longer as officials have now stated that she has a low hemoglobin count. KGMU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof M L B Bhatt, told PTI, "Blood sample of Kanika Kapoor was examined and almost all parameters pertaining to plasma donation were found to be appropriate. However, the hemoglobin quantity was found less than the standard. Hence, she has to wait for a few days for plasma donation." 

The singer was discharged on 6 April after having completely recovered from the deadly virus which she was diagnosed on 20 March. Kanika had also come under heavy attack for being negligent as she did not self-quarantine after returning from the UK. The singer has now released a statement and stated that none of the persons who were in contact with her tested positive for COVID-19.

Kanika Kapoor has been recently discharged after having recovered from COVID-19. The Baby Doll singer has now decided to donate her plasma for the treatment of Coronavirus patients. Her blood will soon be checked by a team of expert doctors from Lucknow’s King George Medical (KGMU) to make sure whether she can donate it or not. They will be visiting the singer at her residence in the city for collecting samples and testing them for further use.

If declared fit, Kanika will be donating her plasma either today i.e. on 28th April, or else on 29th April. For the unversed, the Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan singer was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 a few weeks back. She was receiving treatment for the same at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and was finally discharged on 6th April after having completely recovered from the deadly virus. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 on 20th March.

Kanika Kapoor received a lot of backlash for hiding her travel history post her return to Lucknow. She had even attended a few parties the pictures and videos of which went viral on social media. Not only that but the singer had been accused of misbehavior during her treatment at the hospital. She has recently posted a statement on social media to clear her stance about the entire matter. The singer took a dig at those targeting her and stated that none of the persons who were in contact with her tested positive for COVID-19. Kanika also expressed her gratitude to the doctors and nurses who took care of her.

Kanika Kapoor has been charged under IPC Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and Section 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC. Deepak Kumar Singh, ACP, Krishna Nagar said that the singer will have to come to the police station and give her a written statement. Further action will be taken after this. On Sunday, Kanika took to Instagram to express her gratitude to the health workers who treated her. She also wrote that several stories were doing the rounds and she was fully aware and knew that some information has been misrepresented.

According to Kanika, she arrived in Mumbai on March 10 from the UK. During this time, she was scanned at the international airport. Until that time no advisory had been issued that required her to quarantine herself. She had come to Lucknow to meet her family on March 11, when there was no scanning system for domestic flights. On March 14 and 15, Kanika went to lunch and dinner with her friends. She pointed out that all the people she had interacted with within the UK, Mumbai, and Lucknow are healthy and their reports have also come up negative.

Kanika Kapoor has been discharged from the hospital after two of her recent COVID-19 tests returned negative. The singer is home-quarantined for 14 days. Following the end of her quarantine, the Baby Doll singer will be interrogated by the Lucknow Police. As per previous reports, three FIRs have been registered against Kanika over negligence. One of which was filed by Lucknow's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Narendra Kumar Agarwal, at the Sarojini Nagar Police Station. With regard to the complaints filed against the singer, the police will interrogate Kanika. 

As per a Bombay Times report, the complaint has been lodged against the singer on the charges of "negligently committing an act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life." Dinesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Central, Lucknow had told the national daily, "On the basis of the CMO's complaint, an FIR was lodged against Kapoor on charges of negligently committing an act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, a malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life, and disobeying an order duly promulgated by a public servant." 

Kanika was admitted to PGI Hospital Lucknow after she was diagnosed with Coronavirus. The singer confirmed she was infected with the novel virus through Instagram. In the now-deleted post, she said, "I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago." She added, "I am feeling ok, like the normal flu and a mild fever, however, we need to be sensible citizens at this time and think of all around us. We can get through this without panic only if we listen to the experts and our local, state, and central government directives."

Netizens are trolling the singer on Twitter. Some tweeted, "#KanikaKapoor tests negative in her 6th test in 14 days. It takes 2 more consecutive negatives to discharge her. 

For the uninitiated, Kanika had returned from London last month. There were rumors suggesting she evaded the tests at the airport. However, Kanika has clarified that she was tested as per the norm but developed symptoms just recently.  "I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago," she said.  She also addressed the rumors of attending a party in Lucknow in an interview and denied the reports that claimed she shared a room with 100 guests post her return from London.
