Jaan Kumar Sanu is an Indian playback singer and musician best known as the son of Kumar Sanu, a famous singer in the Hindi film industry. His video song “Dil Mera Churaya Kyun” has been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube and earned him much praise and love. His heartfelt desire was that he should follow in his father’s footsteps, whereas nowadays it was not easy for him to start his career in the field of singing. However, he was confident in his ability and abilities and made a big start in the industry. Recently, Bollywood actor Salman Khan announced Jaan Kumar Sanu as the first contestant of the Bigg Boss 14 show during a virtual press conference.

During Bigg Boss 14, Jaan expressed his fondness for Nikki several times, but she would tease him as ‘Bhai-Jaan. Their friendship soured after she accused him of kissing her on the cheek, despite being told not to. However, she shed tears when he was evicted, and he later returned to the show as her ‘connection’ to support her.

Speaking with Zoom, Jaan said he and Nikki are not on talking terms, and he has no plans of patching up with her. “There is no equation with Nikki at all. There is no conversation, no contact with her at all. I think it is going to be the same, I am going to continue to maintain that. Because, I mean, a lot of things had happened, a lot of stuff has been said about me. So I choose not to respond to it and I would just ignore it.”

“I am going to live my life in peace. All the best to her and all the peace to her. But there is no contact with her and I am going to maintain that,” he added.

After Bigg Boss 14, Jaan said in an interview that while he was ‘attached’ to Nikki, he was never in love with her. “Inside Bigg Boss house, contestants do group up and vent out their stories to each other and in the process, a certain camaraderie might develop,” he had told a leading daily.

Nikki was recently seen as a contestant on Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 but was eliminated in the first week itself. Jaan, the son of noted playback singer Kumar Sanu, has been focussing on his music career.

Former Bigg Boss contestant Jaan Kumar Sanu has left his fans amazed with his latest post. On Monday, the actor showcased his body transformation and thanked his co-contestant and friend Eijaz Khan for “harassing” and “pushing” him to do better during workout sessions in the Bigg Boss house.

He also shared the vest’s photo that has “Jaan” written over it and Gauahar’s lipstick mark. Jaan said he will wear it to his first gig after lockdown. “I still have the Vest with me and I’m waiting for my first gig after lockdown. I promised and I will wear it,” he wrote.

Jaan, son of legendary singer Kumar Sanu, was the first contestant to be confirmed for Bigg Boss 14. During his stay in the Bigg Boss house, Jaan had opened up about his childhood and was brought up by his mother. He made friends with Nikki Tamboli, who is currently shooting for her second reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi season 11.

The comments came to light after Jaan entered into an argument with fellow housemate Nikki Tamboli and asked her to refrain from speaking in Marathi in front of him. He told her that he gets irritated on hearing the language and that if she has the courage, she should speak in Hindi.

"Marathi mei mat baat kar, mere saamne mat baat kar, meko chid hoti hai. Sunaauga teko, mere saamne Marathi mei mat baat kar. Dum hai toh Hindi mei bol warna mat baat kar, chid machti hai meko (don't speak in Marathi in front of me, it irritates me. If you have the guts, speak in Hindi or be quiet)," Jaan had said.

Soon after the broadcast of the episode, the conversation took a political turn, with several political leaders expressing displeasure over the statement. Rahul N.Kanal of Yuva Sena tweeted: "Our self-respect and respect to our mother tongue come first and such ill headed actors should be thrown out of the show till the time and @ColorsTV should apologize, keep such people out of the show rite away, State govt should cancel all permissions immediately."

He added: "Online edit would never keep anything against the ‘Bigg Boss' then how could you keep it against our language?? Would the edit team keep anything against big boss the show and leave it without edit never than why disrespect our language this is pure hatred! Kamal Sanu should be thrown out of @BiggBoss immediately and such humans should not be a part of any public forum at all @ColorsTV timely apology or you want this controversy for your TRP better render an apology and throw that retard out of the show."

Now, show makers Viacom18 have issued an apology. "We have received objections regarding the reference to the Marathi language during the episode broadcasted on 27th October 2020 on Colors channel. We have taken note of these objections and have taken corrective measures of removing the said part from all future broadcasts of the episode," a statement from the production company read.

"We hereby apologize if we have inadvertently hurt the feelings of the people of Maharashtra due to the broadcast of the said comment in relation to the Marathi language. We value the audience and the patronage of the Marathi-speaking audience and respect all languages of India in the same manner," the statement added.

‘ BIGG BOSS 14’ contestant Jaan Kumar Sanu is the latest contestant to be evicted from the house. The young singer’s journey did not last as long as he would have hoped for, but he made his presence felt on the show, thanks to the various controversies he was embroiled in during his stint. In a quick tete-a-tete, Jaan talks about his dislike for fellow contestant Nikki Tamboli, how Eijaz Khan and  Pavitra Punia are strong contenders for the coveted trophy, and how he felt it was silly to be called a ‘Nepo-kid’ because his father, veteran singer Kumar Sanu, has never supported him. Excerpts:

That’s because I was timid, and innocent, and believed that I had to adjust and co-exist with everyone in the house. Just because I was nice and tried to be friends with everyone, people thought that I never took a stand or had an identity. If fighting with one another is how you get noticed in the show, then sorry, I can’t keep fighting with people to get noticed. Every contestant, who enters the house, feels that they will get brownie points only if they fight and add to the drama.

Rahul Vaidya is the smartest of the whole lot! But it was quite silly of him to start a fight with me on nepotism because everyone knows that I am not a product of nepotism. I guess he did not have any reason to nominate me, so without any concrete reason, he called me a ‘no-kid’. To be honest, I am hearing this term for the first time in my life. But Rahul is quite shrewd and knows how to play the game. He will last long on the show.

Jaan, who is currently a contestant on the reality show Bigg Boss season 14, was a child when his parents got divorced. Kumar did not keep in touch with him all this while. Recently, he even questioned his upbringing when Jaan was criticized for seemingly making comments against the Marathi language on Bigg Boss.
