Akkineni Nageswara Rao was born on 20-09-1923 in Ramapuram in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He was an Indian Film Actor, Film Producer, Theatre Actor & Philanthropist known for his work in Telugu and Tamil Cinemas.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao was born in a middle-class family in Andhra Pradesh. At the age of 10, he got associated with the theatre and that is how his journey started. Some of the noted dramas of which, he was a part are Kanakatara, Harishchandra, Telugu Talli, Satyanveshanam, and Aasajyoti among others. He was spotted by legendary filmmaker Ghantasala Balaramaiah spotted him at Vijaywada railway station and offered him the lead role in the cult classic film Seeta Rama Jananam. He did play a supporting role prior to this film but this film brought him under the limelight.
 
In a career that spanned over 7 decades, he went on to star in over 250 films including Telugu, Tamil, and Bollywood films. He played a range of characters in his decorated career. From supporting roles to lead roles to comedian to character roles. One of his roles that needs a special mention is his role in the cult classic film Devadasu. His fans used to refer to him as Natasamrat. For his performances, he was felicitated with various awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhusan, and Dada Saheb Phalke Award among many others. 
 
Off the sets, he has some business interests too. He was deeply involved with a lot of charitable trusts and also started his own noncharitable trusts such as Akkineni International Foundation and The Annapurna International School of Film and Media.
