Actress Aakanksha Singh who is playing a pivotal role in the upcoming film 'Runway 34', directed by and starring Ajay Devgn along with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, says it was quite fascinating for her to see how the actor-filmmaker was multitasking on the set.

Aakanksha is playing the wife of Captain Vikrant Khanna played by Ajay. Asked about sharing screen space with Ajay, Aakanksha told IANS: "It was quite fascinating for me to watch how Ajay sir was directing and acting in the same scene. Of course, it was not easy, especially in some of those action sequences. But Ajay sir is a master in it I guess because he was handling multi-tasking with so much ease."During the shooting of the film, the actress had a leg injury and had to shoot some of the sequences with her plaster on.

Sharing how cooperative the whole cast and crew were, Aakanksha said, "throughout that time, I was in a wheelchair but Ajay sir and all our crew members were so supportive. In one of the plane sequences, when I was almost immobile, they picked me up and put me in the place, and stood by me throughout, including Ajay sir. It is my first big project in Bollywood and this is such a special memory."

Starting her career in theatre, making her screen debut with the TV serial 'Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha', Aakanksha always had a wish to work with Amitabh Bachchan."I remember meeting him for the first time on the set of the film. Though I did not have a dialogue with him, I told him how happy I am just sharing screen space with him. He smiled and asked me what happened to my legs, and how I am commuting on the set to the hotel.

Ajay Devgn's Runway 34 has become one of the most-anticipated movies of 2022. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Boman Irani in lead roles. Apart from them Runway 34 will also feature Aakanksha Singh in a key role. To note, Aakansha entered the Bollywood industry with Badrinath Ki Dulhania. In a recent interview, she revealed that megastar Amitabh Bachchan sent her a handwritten letter of appreciation during the Runway 34 shoot.

In a conversation with India Today, Aakanksha Singh revealed that she wanted to thank her Runway 34 co-star Amitabh Bachchan for sending her a buggy when she had a fracture. She thought of thanking him by writing a poem. Aakanksha disclosed that Amitabh Bachchan was impressed with her writing and asked her ‘Kabse Likh Rahe Hain AAP?’ to which she said that she has been doing it since her childhood.

“That was a big moment for me because he is also a great writer. Whatever he writes, he writes so beautifully - be it poems or one-liners. Since I had the same passion for writing, I thought of writing a poem first. He really liked it. And the very next day, I received a letter of appreciation, in which he had written - Prasansa Ke Patra Aate Rahenge, Pehle ye Sneh Bhara Patra Kijiye shikar (You will keep getting appreciation letters. But first, please accept this letter). It was a very big deal for me," shared the actress.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania actress Aakanksha Singh will play Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn's on-screen wife in the upcoming film MayDay. The film also stars  Amitabh Bachchan, along with Rakul Preet Singh. The actress said that it is like a dream come true to be a part of such a big and much-awaited film.

"It's like a dream come true to be a part of such a big and much-awaited film. I am so excited to share the screen with Ajay sir and Amitabh sir and the icing on the cake is Ajay sir is directing the film. It's actually happening! It's an important role and I am lucky that the first muhurta shot of the film had me in it," said Aakanksha.

The actress who has worked in television shows like Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha. And starred in a couple of South films, including the hit Kannada film Pailwaan starring Sudeep. She has joined the team yesterday for the shoot.

Navigating an acting career between Hindi and South  Indian films, Aakanksha Singh has chosen the path less traveled to make her mark in South Indian movies. Her decision to portray meaty characters rather than rely on glamorous roles also seems to be paying off.
Aakanksha has yet again garnered attention for her nuanced performance in the recently released movie 'Clap', a Tamil-Telugu bilingual sports drama. Speaking to IANS, the actress said that it is the role rather than screen time that matters to her.

"I don't want to be just there doing nothing on screen," Aakanksha said. "Even if it's a five-minute or a 10-minute role, I don't mind doing it if I know that it has potential for me to portray it well and that people will remember that role. As an actor, my job is done.

"So you give me a five-minute role, I will do it, and I'll make sure that you will remember it, if the story is nice, my character is nice. I don't want to go for any random thing. That's why I am going slow and steady."

In 'Clap', written and directed by  Aditya Prithvi, Aakanksha plays the role of lead actor  Adi Pinisetty's wife. The movie, which has been released on Sonyliv, is about an athlete who ends up getting handicapped in a mishap.

Delving deeper into the film in the course of her conversation with the media agency, Aakanksha said: "It is not a commercial film. If we talk about sports films, we think about 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'Sultan' or 'Dangal', which are big-budget films and have big actors. They're commercially very strong."

She added: "'Clap' is a subject-oriented film. A content-oriented film. It's not about dancing and singing. It has no songs, in fact. We have all the songs in the form of montages. We don't have lovey-dovey scenes. It's entirely a slice-of-life film. And it hits you hard because not just a sportsperson but anybody can relate to it."

Aakanksha has acted in the 2017 Bollywood film 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' and will next be seen in the Amitabh Bachchan-Starrer 'Runway34'.

Her portfolio of South Indian films includes the award-winning 2017 Telugu movie 'Malli Raava'. Her second project was the Telugu film 'Devadas' in which she was cast as the female lead opposite actor  Nagarjuna. 'Pailwan' is her first Kannada project. As Akanksha put it, language is not a barrier for her.

"There is no language thing now," she told IANS. "People from Bollywood are coming to South and from the South, they're coming to Bollywood. So there are no boundaries as such. I consider myself to be an actor first."Signing off, Aakanksha said: "I love working with the South Indian industry because I am getting such good roles. Wherever I get good roles I will work. That is my agenda."

Aakanksha started her journey with TV and is known for her performance in the series 'Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha' and 'Gulmohar Grand'. Before venturing into TV and films, she did theatre and acted in more than 10 plays.

Actor Aakanksha Singh does get a little anxious reading about people testing positive for Covid-19 despite vaccination and says it has made her more conscious about her surroundings.

“I am conscious and it’s really scary when we travel for work, and now we are reading about people getting Covid even after vaccination. I think (it reinforces) that we really need to be careful even though we have got out shots,” she says, adding, “You have to be very careful about your health, take precautions, use sanitizers. You just have to be a little cautious about your surroundings, you can’t do anything else”.

The actor, who has starred in the Kannada film Pailwaan (2019), and the Telugu film Malli Raava (2017), continues to straddle between different industries, from working on Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn-Starrer Mayday to her Tamil debut Clap.

The 31-year-old shares, “It is really difficult when you are traveling from one city to another city these days. I am working mostly in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. So, despite taking all the precautions, it is really difficult when you go from one set to another set, since there are so many people around. You know you are taking your own precautions, but you never know. So it’s really scary”.

However, she feels grateful that at least she has work in hand. “Covid pandemic has hit so many people so hard, but I feel fortunate and lucky that I’m working. So I just want to do my work and take care of my health,” says the actor.

And Singh is glad that her work is getting noticed, and appreciated by stalwarts such as her Mayday co-star Big B. “It feels so encouraging to get appreciation from someone like Big B. It pushes you to work harder in your craft to make your craft better. Working with Big B was on my bucket list and it’s happening with me. I’m really lucky and grateful for that opportunity,” she signs off.
